BHS STADIUM PROJECT UNDER WAY

DoddSod

FRONT PAGE PHOTO: A crew from LeVan’s Excavating removed the grass from Dodd Field on Monday as a $1.5 million project to improve the stadium was started. The first phase this summer will include the installation of an artificial playing surface and a new scoreboard, and renovations to the track, press box and visitors’ bleachers. A new multipurpose building will be part of the second phase, which is set to begin next spring. Currently, approximately $10-15,000 in pledges is needed to get to the target financial goal for the project. Davis was able to preserve some of the grass from the field, which was offered to the public at a cost of $10 per 18-inch section. (EXAMINER PHOTOS | MATT HAMMOND)
