West Liberty-Salem’s softball team began the postseason with an impressive hitting display Monday in a 14-3 six-inning win over host Anna in a Division III sectional opener.
The Tigers are now 12-13 on the season and travel to second-seeded Brookville on Wednesday for a sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m.
WL-Salem jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the second inning. Anna drove in two runs in the bottom of the third to trail 6-3.
The Tigers pulled away for good after plating four runs in the top of the fourth inning. They added another run in the top of the fifth frame for an 11-3 advantage.
West Liberty-Salem finished off the scoring with three more runs in the top of the sixth inning.
