Beau Swank’s invitation to play football at Defiance College came with an added bonus.
A standout two-sport athlete on the gridiron and wrestling mat at Benjamin Logan, Swank learned while looking into Defiance for football that the Northwest Ohio school has also recently brought back wrestling.
The ability to be active in both sports helped persuade Swank to pick Defiance as his college home.
“It was going to be a hard decision for me to choose between the two sports,” said Swank. “Defiance’s football coaches were full-go about me doing wrestling, too. I am really excited about that.”
Swank said that Defiance offered the all-around educational and athletic experiences he was looking for in a college.
“I am going into criminal justice and they have a great criminal justice program there,” he said. “They offer a lot of internships for their students and they work hard to make sure you graduate.
“From a football standpoint, their head coach reminds me a lot of coach (Carleton) Cotner at Ben Logan. He really wants to build character in his players. It’s not just all football with him.”
