Springfield Shawnee’s boys tennis team blanked visiting Bellefontaine 5-0 on Thursday in a Central Buckeye Conference meeting.
The loss drops the Chieftains to 2-14.
At first singles, Springfield Shawnee’s Daniel Detrick beat Bellefontaine’s Tyler Frantz 6-0, 6-0, while second singles saw the Braves’ Micky Hall top the Chiefs’ Adam Verbsky 6-0, 6-0.
The Braves also won at third singles, with Hayden Parrill beating Isaiah Brady 6-0, 6-1.
Shawnee won both doubles matches. First doubles saw Andrew Hile and Chandlier Stidham top the Chiefs’ Max Wilcoxon and Mason Bailey 6-0, 6-0, while second doubles saw the Chiefs’ Min Lin and Dean Smith fall 6-0, 6-1.
In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine’s Josh Kruetzer and Michael Coakley edged Andrew Getz and Ryan Coffman 9-8, while the Chiefs’ Derek Markley beat Alex Quick 6-4. The Braves’ Josh Gummel and Josh Moore downed Marshall Verbsky and Alex German 6-2.
Bellefontaine competes in sectional tournament action Tuesday at Troy.
