Triad’s softball team finished strong to wrap up a 17-5 win in five innings Wednesday over visiting Mechanicsburg in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Cardinals are now 14-6 overall and 10-2 in the OHC.
Triad jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first inning. The Cardinals plated three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 9-1 advantage.
M’burg scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Triad added another run to stay in front 10-4.
The Indians squeezed out a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Cardinals answered again with seven runs in the bottom of the frame to wrap up the run-rule win.
Abby Ehrenborg powered a Triad offense that piled up 18 hits. She went 4-5 with a double, while Jenna Welty went 2-3 with a triple and Jenna Ober went 2-4 with two doubles.
