Raider boys grab runner-up spot in own meet

Benjamin Logan’s boys track and field team showcased its depth to grab a second-place finish at its own Raider Invitational on Friday.

Celina gave a dominant performance, winning the boys 11-team meet with 166.5 points. The host Raiders were second with 90.5 points, Grandview Heights finished third with 87 points and Bellefontaine was fourth with 80 points.

Stebbins turned in a fifth-place showing with 73 points, Indian Lake was sixth with 67.5 points, Triad was ninth with 16 points and Calvary Christian was 11th with 2.5 points.

Celina also won the girls meet after piling up 184 points. Grandview Heights claimed second with 115 points and Miami East was third with 90 points.

Locally, the Chieftains were fourth with 81 points, the Raiders were fifth with 65 points and the Lakers were sixth with 42 points. The Cardinals finished ninth with 10 points and Riverside came in 10th with 6.5 points.

“I was pleased with the focus the girls brought to the meet since this was the night before our prom,” said Ben Logan girls head coach Mike Coder. “Our goal was to finish in the top five in the team scoring.

“Alex Thompson had her best jumps of the season after some adjustments were made during the week. Coreen Crosby and Tayler Rose both had season best performances in the long jump. Aly Brose had a good night with two third place finishes in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.”
