Chieftains hang on to stop Indian Lake 7-5

Bellefontaine’s softball team took an early lead and then held off host Indian Lake for a 7-5 win Thursday in Central Buckeye Conference action.

The Chieftains improve to 8-9 overall and 5-5 in the CBC, while the Lakers slip to 9-9, 6-5.

“We played well, but we had one bad inning in the sixth allowing them to score four of their five runs,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin. “I was proud of my girls because they held strong and finished out the seventh inning, scoring one and not allowing Indian Lake to get anyone on base.”

Bellefontaine got its offense rolling early for a 4-0 after three innnings. Indian Lake scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to trail 4-1.
