West Liberty-Salem’s girls track and field got off to a solid start on the first day of action at the prestigous Wayne Invitational on Thursday in Huber Heights.
Host Wayne leads the girls team rankings after the first day with 37 points. Mason is sitting in second with 34.6 points, Centerville is third with 30 points and Hilliard Davidson is fourth with 26 points. The meet concludes today.
For the Tigers, Alyssa Strickland placed ninth in the 3,200 of the Rising Stars division with a time of 12:22.64.
Lauren Godwin placed 14th in the shot put (31-9), while Madison Gantz was one spot back in 15th (31-7 1/2) in the same event.
The Tigers’ distance medley of Katie Hartsel, Leah Cole, Ashley Rabenstein and Jenna Magunson placed 16th with a time of 14:38.76.
Morgan Freyhof qualified for the finals in the 100 with a time of 13.15.
