Kenton Ridge netters grab win over Bellefontaine in CBCmatch


Kenton Ridge’s boys tennis team defeated host Bellefontaine 5-0 on Thursday in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup.

The Chieftains fall to 1-10.

At first singles, Bellefontaine’s Tyler Frantz lost to Chris Kallweit 6-0, 6-2. The Chiefs’ Adam Verbsky fell to Mike Kalasekera 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and Bellefontaine’s Isaiah Brady lost to Josh Hefner at third singles 6-0, 6-0.

The first doubles match saw Bellefontaine’s Max Wilcoxon and Mason Bailey lose 6-0, 6-3, while second doubles saw the Chiefs’ Min Lin and Dean Smith fall to Michelle Kalasekera and Ryan Maynard 6-3, 7-5.

In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine’s Alex German and Michael Coakley lost to Nic Audette and Josh Hefner 8-5, the Chiefs’ Derek Markley fell to Jenny Kalasekera 9-7 and the Chiefs’ Josh Kruetzer and Marshall Verbsky were beaten by Mark Smith and Connor Joseph 8-3.

Bellefontaine travels to London today for a non-league match.
