WL-Salem squads sweep quad meet

West Liberty-Salem’s boys and girls junior high track and field teams recently swept an Ohio Heritage Conference quad meet.

The Tiger girls won the four-team meet with 89.5 points, Cedarville was second with 64 points, Mechanicsburg took third with 53.5 points and Miami View came in fourth with 20 points.

The Tigers edged the Indians 65.5-60 to win the boys meet. Miami View came in third with 54.5 points and M’burg was fourth with 46 points.

Earning wins for WL-Salem’s girls were Janie Kopus in the pole vault (7-6), Laine Godwin in the 100 hurdles (17.3), Tory Cordell in the 200 hurdles (35.3), Reghan Bieleski in the 400 (1:06.6) and Taylor Lauck in the 800 (2:35.01).

Winning relays were the 400 relay of Cordell, Godwin, Lauck and Kenedie Cox (56.6), the 800 relay of Rachel McGill, Addy Johnson, Hailey Duncan and Kaeley Lattimer (2:05.3) and the 1,600 relay of Bieleski, Kopus, Sarah Painter and Kaylee Harrison (4:45.7).

Taking second were Kopus in the high jump (3-10), Cox in the 100 (14.04), Bieleski in the 800 (2:40.8) and Painter in the 1,600 (6:24.4).

WL-Salem’s boys saw wins from Levi Moell in the 110 hurdles (17.4) and the 200 hurdles (28.2), Trevor Burden in the shot put (36-11), Nick Williams in the 800 (2:31.2) and the 1,600 relay of Moell, Michael Kelly, Garrett Predmore and Braden Miller (4:19.8).

Placing second were Burden in the discus (111-6), Miller in the high jump (4-4) and Isaac Smith in the 1,600 (5:19.2).
