WL-Salem girls win Champaign County meet
West Liberty-Salem’s girls junior high track and field team ran away with the Champaign County championship and set three meet records Monday.
The Tiger girls won with 137 points, while Mechanicsburg was a distant second with 62 points. Graham took third with 60 points, Urbana was fourth with 35 points and Triad was fifth with 18 points.
The Falcons held off Urbana 110-98 to win the boys meet. The Tigers came in third with 67 points, the Indians were fourth with 32 points and the Cardinals were fifth with one point.
Setting a Champaign County meet record for WL-Salem’s girls were Taylor Lauck in the 400 with a winning time of 1:03.04, Reghan Bieleski in the 800 with a winning time of 2:31.1 and the 1,600 relay of Lauck, Bieleski, Janie Kopus and Sarah Painter with a winning time of 4:39.7.
