Chieftains drop Jackson Center, Sidney


Bellefontaine’s softball team grabbed two wins Saturday after defeating Jackson Center and host Sidney in a three-team softball event.

The Chieftains held on to beat the Tigers 9-5 and dropped the Yellow Jackets 10-4.

The wins even Bellefontaine’s record to 6-6.

Against Jackson Center, Bellefontaine built a 7-0 lead by the fifth inning. The Tigers drove in three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to trail 7-3. The Chiefs added two more runs for a 9-3 score and the Tigers mustered two more runs in the bottom of the seventh frame.

Offensively for BHS, Jazmyn Haley went 3-3 with a home run, Jenna VanHoose went 2-4 with a double, Macey Neff went 2-3 with a triple and MacKenzie Brunswick added a triple.
