Life-changing decisions don’t come easy. Former West Liberty-Salem state distance champion Meghan Vogel made one of those decisions recently by deciding to leave Penn State University.

Vogel recently made the decision to transfer to Xavier University in Cincinnati. She leaves after a redshirt freshman season for the Nittany Lions this past school year. She was on the cross country and track and field teams.
The Musketeers were one of several Division I programs Vogel had considered when she first looked at colleges. Transferring was ultimately decided by what made the local star feel most comfortable.
“I wanted to be closer to home,” said Vogel. “Penn State was a great experience, but it was also a little intimidating with the size and the drive it takes to get here. It was more than I thought it would be.
“At Xavier, I’ll get a great education and that will be very beneficial.”
