Commodores strike early to sting Pirates

After falling 11-6 to Riverside on Wednesday, Lima Perry’s baseball team was able to gain some revenge with a 13-1 win in five innings on Thursday over the host Pirates in a Northwest Central Conference game.

The Pirates fall to 4-2 on the season.

Perry got off to a fast start with four runs in the first inning. The Commodores added three runs in the second inning and two runs in the top of the third inning for a 9-0 lead.

Riverside plated its only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Perry added one run in the top of the fourth inning and three runs in the top of the fifth to lead 13-1 and earn the run-rule victory.

The Pirates only mustered four hits offensively. Landon Kelsey recorded a double and Connor Cotterman drove in the team’s only run.

Riverside travels to Bradford today for a non-league game.
