Ben Logan unable to catch Shawnee

Springfield Shawnee stayed perfect Wednesday with an 8-4 victory over host Benjamin Logan in Central Buckeye Conference softball action.

The Braves are now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Raiders fall to 1-2, 0-1.

Shawnee struck early with two runs in the top of the first for a 2-0 lead.

Ben Logan scored a run in the third to make the score 2-1.

Shawnee opened up some breathing room in the top of the fifth with four runs. That gave the Braves a 6-1 lead.

The Raiders continued to battle back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth to close within two at 6-4.

Shawnee held Ben Logan scoreless the rest of the way, while the Braves added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth.

Kate Campbell went 3-4 with a home run to lead Ben Logan’s offense.

Shawnee’s standout pitcher Emily McKillip recorded nine strikeouts and limited the Raiders to five hits.
