WL-Salem splits DH with Urbana


West Liberty-Salem’s softball team split with host Urbana on Saturday in a doubleheader. The Tigers lost the first game 10-0 in five innings, but came back to win the second game 6-1.

The Hillclimbers rolled in the first game as pitcher Hannah Alvoid tossed a no-hitter against the Tigers. Urbana led 9-0 after four innings and tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth to earn the win.

In the second game, WL-Salem led 4-1 after the fourth inning. The Tigers squeezed out one run in the top of the fifth inning and another run in the top of the sixth inning for a 6-1 advantage. They were able to hold off the Hillclimbers in the seventh inning.

Offensively, Rachel Loffing and Megan Deam each had an RBI for the Tigers.

Kylee Kite picked up the win in the pitching circle.

WL-Salem hosts Cedarville today in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
