West Liberty-Salem’s boys track and field team gave a strong performance Saturday, tying for third place at the Versailles Invitational.
Minster ran away with the 12-team Black Division after scoring 170 points. Greenville came in second with 75.5 points, while the Tigers and St. Henry tied for third with 71 points each.
Conner Karg led WL-Salem with two first-place finishes. He won the 200 (23.5) and the 400 (52.1).
Earning runner-up spots were Taylor Cordell in the 110 hurdles (15.5) and the 400 relay of Cordell, Brandon Wolfe, Kelvin Shank and Kam Evans (46.1), while a third-place effort came from the 1,600 relay of Cordell, Evans, Shank and Karg (3:42.2).
Adding fourth-place finishes were Shank in the 200 (24.2), Evans in the 110 hurdles (16.3), Joey Adams in the 1,600 (4:50.4) and the 3,200 (10:35.7) and the 800 relay of Karg, Wolfe, Shank and Nikolas Yoder (1:36.9).
