Raiders unable to advance out of qualifying round at state bowling tourney

Benjamin Logan’s boys bowling team could not land a spot in the final round of the Division II state bowling tournament Friday in Columbus.

Following the three regular games and three baker games, Ben Logan had a total pin count of 3,076. That put the Raiders 12th out of the 16 teams. The top eight teams moved on to the head-to-head tournament portion of the event to determine placement.

Logan Wenger had the top series for the Raiders with a 571 (170, 217, 184).

Wenger was followed by Mitchel Johnson with a 550 series (172, 217, 161), Wes Brown with a 525 series (136, 224, 165) and Josh Wiley with a 443 series (181, 131, 131). Tristin Harshfield added a 180 game.

Phil Davis represented West Liberty-Salem as an individual. He finished with a 518 series (153, 179, 186).

Warren Champion won the team title, defeating Struthers in the championship round. Coldwater was third, Versailles finished fourth and Jonathan Alder took fifth.
