West Liberty-Salem was unable to advance as a team, but the Tigers’ Phil Davis did move on to state as an individual during Thursday’s Division II Southwest District boys bowling tournament at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek.
The top four teams and the top four remaining individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the state tournament in Columbus.
Davis shot a three-game series of 641 for the Tigers.
He was the top individual state qualifier and placed fifth overall in the district standings.
Davis will bowl in the state tournament Friday at Wayne Webb Columbus Bowl.
The Tigers placed seventh as a team at districts, missing state qualification by 148 pins.
