Collin Watson and Ryan Boyd combined for 48 points, but it was not enough for Triad on Friday as Lehman Catholic outlasted the Cardinals 88-72 in a Division IV sectional boys basketball tournament opener at Piqua High School.
Triad fell into a 20-point halftime hole as the Cavaliers led 39-19 at the break.
However, Triad exploded in the third quarter to get back into the game. Watson scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the period, helping Triad outscore Lehman 32-21.
That third-quarter surge brought the Cardinals within nine points at 60-51.
