West Jefferson puts away Triad in non-league matchup

West Jefferson’s boys basketball team pulled away in the second half to down visiting Triad 74-61 in a non-league contest Tuesday.

The Cardinals fall to 10-11.

West Jefferson led 33-31 at halftime. The Roughriders pushed their lead to eight points (55-47) after three quarters and then outscored the Cardinals 19-14 in the final period.

Collin Watson had 15 points to pace the Cardinals and Ryan Boyd had 14 points.

In junior varsity action, Triad grabbed a 54-29 win. Thomas O’Neal led the Cardinals with 18 points and Eligh Puckett had 11 points.

The freshman game saw Triad win 33-32.

Triad faces Lehman Catholic in sectional tournament action on Friday at Piqua High School.
