Local wrestlers qualify for state
Numerous local junior high wrestlers competed in Ohio Athletic Committee district tournaments around Ohio last weekend.
The top six advanced to the OAC state tournament in Youngstown.
Bellefontaine and Indian Lake had wrestlers compete at the Vandalia Butler district. The Lakers’ Connor Dixon (164) won a district title, while Cole Mefford (176) was sixth. The Chiefs’
Braden Jacobs (249) qualified with a third-place finish. Bruno Pattison (176) was eighth and is a state alternate.
Bellefontaine’s Phil Francis (134) competed at the Bowling Green district and finished fifth to earn a state berth.
Ben Logan wrestlers competed at the Thomas Worthington dis- trict and qualified four wrestlers to state. Leading the way with a dis- trict title was Sammy Slavens (209). Mason Plikerd (146) was second, Cole Houser (90) was third and Wes Oldaker (249) took sixth.
