The start of the sectional boys basketball tournament is still about a week away, but Saturday night’s Indian Lake-Bellefontaine tussle had all the ingredients of a postseason thriller.

The visiting Lakers had nine-point leads in both halves before the Chiefs battled back late to force the game into overtime.

Bellefontaine (14-8) then squeezed ahead in the extra period for a 60-57 victory in front of a loud and energetic crowd at BHS.

“This was a great high school basketball game,” said Bellefontaine head coach Henry Stolly. “Indian Lake has really matured as a team this season. They have nine returning letterwinners, and they played like a poised and experienced team tonight.”
