Warriors topple Riverside girls 61-32

Riverside’s girls basketball team fell behind early to visiting Northwestern and couldn’t recover Thursday in a 61-32 non-league loss.

The Pirates drop to 7-16 on the season. The Warriors improve to 10-11.

Northwestern took command early with 12-4 first quarter. The Warriors used a 15-12 effort in the second quarter to build a 27-18 lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw Northwestern extend its lead with a 20-7 run. That burst pushed the score to 47-23.

Samantha Egbert led the Pirates with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Teague had nine points and Monica Hurley added seven points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
