West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team came out firing in the first quarter against host Springfield Catholic Central on Friday and came away with a 59-44 Ohio Heritage Conference victory.
The win completes a season sweep of SCC as the Tigers improve to 7-9 overall and 6-3 in the OHC, while the Irish fall to 4-6, 3-5. WL-Salem beat Catholic Central 60-51 earlier this season.
WL-Salem raced out to a 19-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Catholic Central regained its footing and outscored the Tigers 17-10 in the second quarter, but WL-Salem led by 10 (29-19) at halftime.
The Tigers continued to keep the momentum in their favor in the second half to seal the victory.
Connor Woods fueled the Tigers’ attack with 17 points. Ben Burden contributed 14 points, Kannon Stillings had eight points and Brandon Adams added seven points.
