Not always the flashiest team on the court, West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team prides itself on its blue collar style.

The Tigers showed their grit again Tuesday night by grinding out a 52-49 victory over visiting Greeneview in Ohio Heritage Conference play.

The Rams won the earlier meeting 54-44.

“We’ve had several games reach the fourth quarter when we had the lead, but then ended up losing,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “We had a lead on Greeneview the last time we played them, but they went on a 15-0 run and won.

“Our guys stepped up tonight and made plays. We ended up making enough free throws at the end to get the win.”
