A big first half by West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team was enough to put away visiting Springfield Catholic Central on Saturday.

The Tigers took a 24-10 lead after two quarters and never looked back en route to a 60-51 Ohio Heritage Conference victory.

The win improves the Tigers’ record to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in the OHC standings.

WL-Salem held an 11-8 edge after the opening quarter and outscored Catholic Central 13-2 in the second quarter. That gave the Tigers a 24-10 advantage entering halftime.

SCC clawed back a bit in the second half, but the Tigers maintained their momentum to come away with the win.
