Riverside girls hang on to bounce Bees

Riverside’s girls basketball team held on for a 49-45 win over visiting Bethel on Saturday in non-league action.

The win improves the Pirates to 6-9 on the season.

Riverside held an 8-7 lead after the first quarter and outscored Bethel 13-9 in the second quarter. That gave the Pirates a 21-16 advantage at halftime.

The Pirates led by two points (32-30) after three quarters. Riverside outscored the Bees 17-15 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Brooke Hickey fueled the Pirates with a game-high 20 points, six rebounds and two steals, while Monica Hurley turned in 11 points with four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
