Triad’s girls basketball team clawed its way to a 48-44 win over visiting Northeastern on Thursday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Cardinals bump their record to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the OHC, while the Jets slip to 2-12, 1-7.
It was a tight game throughout. Triad edged Northeastern 12-10 in the first quarter and the Cardinals led by one point (23-22) at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Cardinals gained a little breathing room with a four-point cushion (38-34).
Triad then fought off the Jets in the final quarter to get the win.
Jenna Welty sparked the Cardinals with 19 points. Nicole Simonelli piled up 16 points and Jenna Ober chipped in seven points.
Triad travels to Southeastern on Saturday for another OHC contest.
