Pirates looking to stay afloat in league play

Riverside’s boys basketball team has had its ups and downs this season, but with a trip to Ridgemont on Friday the chance for a Northwest Central Conference win may be the boost the team needs.

The Pirates (5-7, 1-2) are coming off a 73-67 loss to Triad on Tuesday, but have already turned all of their attention to league play Friday.

“It will be a key league game for us,” said RHS head coach Daniel Hickman. “We’ve played two pretty tough teams in the league already with Lehman Catholic and Lima Perry. So we hope to get another NWCC win on Friday.

“Ridgemont is a team that always hustles and is scrappy. We can’t be outworked by them if we want to win. We have to keep working hard.”
