Chieftain swimmers hold their own at Celina

Bellefontaine’s swim team represented itself well against some tough competition Saturday in Celina.

The Chieftain girls finished seventh out of 22 teams in the Celina/Wapakoneta Invitational. The BHS boys took 13th.

“I am continuously proud of our team and the work they are putting in,” said BHS head coach Sharon Lewis. “(On Saturday) I was most impressed with our drive to compete and our swimmers stepping up to the challenges of a new meet and new competition especially after such a broken up week of practice.”

The Chiefs had many swimmers set new personal-best times, including the girls 400 freestyle relay team, which dropped five seconds from its previous best effort.
