Riverside handles Gophers for 54-31 NWCC hoops win

Riverside’s girls basketball team won its third consecutive game Thursday after handling host Ridgemont 54-31 in a Northwest Central Conference matchup.

The Pirates are now 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the NWCC, while the Gophers tumble to 2-8, 0-2.

“We played really well defensively in the middle quarters,” said Riverside girls head coach Corey Britton. “Our girls’ effort and energy were great. They deserve and earned this three-game winning streak.”

Brooke Hickey had a stellar all-around performance for the Pirates. The junior guard had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds along with five steals and six assists.
