The Lakers snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the CBC Mad River division. The Raiders fall to 5-6, 2-2.

Indian Lake took control early with a 16-6 lead after the opening quarter.

“We were coming off a tough loss, and it was a big to get off to a good start to gain some confidence,” said Indian Lake head coach Tim McMahon. “I thought we played really well in the first half.”

The Lakers edged the Raiders 15-13 in the second quarter to take a 33-19 advantage at halftime.

The pace slowed in the second half as Ben Logan got its offense going. The Raiders outscored the Lakers 12-9 in the third quarter, but still trailed 42-31.

In the fourth quarter, Ben Logan came to within four points of Indian Lake (47-43) with 30.3 seconds left. The Raiders outscored the Lakers 12-8 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough.

“The big key for us is we moved our feet and played some good defense,” said McMahon. “We played a 1-3-1 zone and they seemed to struggle against that at times.”

Sammi Miller led the Lakers with 13 points. Haley Boberg had 11 points and Caylee Wurster added 10 points.

For the Raiders, Taylor Coy led the team with 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals and Hayley Boysel contributed seven points and five assists.

In junior varsity action, Ben Logan topped Indian Lake 46-20. Lauren Oglesbee led the Raiders with nine points, while Dakota Derr and Sadie Inglin each had eight points. The Lakers were led by Olivia Amspaugh and Michelle Grider with seven points each.

Ben Logan travels to Elgin on Thursday, while Indian Lake travels to Urbana on Saturday for a CBC division matchup.
