Jazmyn Haley powers Bellefontaine girls past Stebbins

Jazmyn Haley carried the Bellefontaine girls basketball team past host Stebbins on Saturday.

Haley recorded 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Chiefs to a 43-40 win in a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division game.

The Chiefs are now 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the league. Stebbins drops to 8-5, 1-4.

It was a slow start for both teams. The Chiefs led 3-2 after one quarter.

The action heated up in the second quarter as the teams were tied 15-15 at halftime.

The Indians shot ahead 28-24 after three periods, but Bellefontaine outscored the home team 19-12 in the fourth quarter to grab the victory.

MacKenzie Brunswick added nine points for Bellefontaine.

In the junior varsity game, Stebbins won 41-30. Ashley Artis led the Chiefs with 11 points.

Bellefontaine is back in action Wednesday at home against Graham. The Chiefs’ game Saturday at Springfield Shawnee has been moved up to noon for the junior varsity contest and 1:30 for the varsity game.
