Bellefontaine’s wrestling team battled some of the best Northwest Ohio had to offer Friday and Saturday at the Defiance Fricker’s Duals.
The Chieftains wrestled 10 dual meets in two days and improved upon last year’s showing with a 3-7 record.
Nationally ranked Davison of Michigan proved to be a force and won the Fricker’s Duals with a perfect 10-0 record. Hudson, also from Michigan, came in second at 9-1. Edison was third with an 8-2 mark and Perrysburg finished fourth with a 7-3 record.
“I appreciate the fight our kids showed this weekend,” said BHS head coach Rick Reed. “You often hear that today’s youth aren’t willing to work or aren’t tough enough. I can tell you that I had 16 kids that stood up to adversity for 10 straight matches. That means a lot to me.”
