Host Greenon rallied from an 11-point first-quarter deficit to beat Indian Lake 57-54 in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division girls basketball game Saturday afternoon.
Indian Lake is now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Lakers jumped out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the first period.
Greenon began its comeback in the second quarter, outscoring the Lakers 21-15 but Indian Lake’s lead to five (32-27) at halftime.
“We started turning the ball over in the second quarter and Greenon took advantage of it,” said Indian Lake coach Tim McMahon. “We knew they would make a run, and they did.”
The Knights’ surge continued in the second half as they were able to tie the score at 43-43 after three quarters.
Greenon was three points better (14-11) in the final stanza to get the win.
“We were down one with about 20 seconds to go,” said McMahon. “We were called for a charging foul and then they made two free throws to go up three. We had a shot at the buzzer, but it didn’t go down.”
