“Our girls played extremely hard,” said RHS girls head coach Corey Britton. “We executed in the first half, but we just couldn’t get the shots to fall.
“We came within six points in the fourth quarter. I applaud our girls’ effort. They didn’t roll over and quit at halftime. They came out blazing in the second half.”
The Trojans took command early and led 12-1 after the first quarter. The Pirates’ Aubrey Stephens scored on a free throw attempt with 1.7 seconds left for her team’s only point.
Botkins outscored RHS 9-5 in the second quarter. The Pirates didn’t hit their first basket until Stephens scored at the 2:26 mark. The Trojans would enter halftime ahead 21-6.
