Wapakoneta’s girls basketball team gave an impressive offensive effort to put away visiting Bellefontaine 67-40 in non-league action and start its season with a victory.

“We couldn’t match up with their guard play early on,” said BHS girls head coach Brian Hogan. “That allowed them to hit some open shots and get ahead early. Then they  just did a good job making the rest of their shots.”

The Redskins raced out to a 25-10 lead after the opening quarter. Wapak edged the Chiefs 16-12 in the second quarter, which gave them a 41-22 advantage at halftime.
