After three trips to the Division III state cross country meet with the entire West Liberty-Salem girls squad, senior Alyssa Strickland has the spotlight solely on her now.

The Tiger standout is set to race in her fourth and final state meet Saturday at 11 a.m. at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.

“It will be good (running alone) in the sense that I can focus on myself and there is no pressure in the team race,” said Strickland. “It will be sad for me, though. Not having all of the girls I’m used to being with at state will be hard. I’ll have to zone out at the start line and just run my race.”
