Lakers, Raiders playing for pride in this year’s edition of their county rivalry

With no league championship or playoff berths to fight for, Indian Lake and Benjamin Logan’s football teams are battling for the only thing they have left: Pride.

Neither team has had the season it hoped for at the start of the fall, but a victory over a county rival to end the year is what matters now. The Raiders host the Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division contest.

“It’s a big game for us because of the rivalry,” said Indian Lake head coach Dave Coburn. “We play this game for pride and that is our focus now. It also allows our seniors to go out with a win and they deserve that. It would also get us into the off-season on a positive note.”

“It’s a huge game,” said Ben Logan head coach Carleton Cotner. “It’s a rivalry game and a great way to end the season. It doesn’t matter what records are because a win this week propels you into the off-season with a lot better taste in your mouth. With the youth and inexperience we have, it would be a huge win.”
