Local volleyball squads fall short

The three remaining local volleyball teams saw their seasons come to an end in sectional tournament action Saturday.

Benjamin Logan was defeated by top-seeded Kenton Ridge 25-18, 25-17, 25-13 in a Division II sectional final at Tecumseh High School.

Taylor Quay paced the Raiders with 12 kills in her final high school match.

Alex Thompson tallied nine kills and Jennifer Poling added five kills. Tayler Rose chipped in with 20 assists for the Raiders.

Ben Logan finished the season with a 16-9 record.

In a Division III sectional final at Brookville High School, top-seeded Versailles tripped West Liberty-Salem 25-12, 25-8, 25-10.

The Tigers closed out their campaign with a 13-12 record.

Riverside also came out on the losing end, falling to Russia 25-6, 25-11, 25-16 in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Tippecanoe.

The loss makes the Pirates’ final record 6-14.
