Tim McGill’s Riverside squad will try to contain brother Dan’s WL-S team
Friend or foe, brother or stranger, it makes no difference who is on the other sideline to the McGill brothers.
Dan, who is in his first-year as head coach at West Liberty-Salem, and Tim, who is back coaching at Riverside, face off against each other at 7 p.m. Friday when the Pirates make the short trip to West Liberty to take on the Tigers in a Logan County football matchup.
Only when asked do the McGill brothers give any thought to whom they are coaching against this week.
“On my end, I haven’t thought much about it,” said Tim McGill. “I’m just thinking about the opponent we have this week. I thought more about it during the summer, but once the season starts you focus on a week-to-week basis and just prepare for who your opponent is.”
“I have a ton of respect for Tim as a coach,” said Dan McGill. “He has had as big of an impact on me as any coach. I know he is and will continue to do a great job. With that being said, the game is, and never will be, about coaches. It is about the players who work so hard, so we are approaching it as the next game on our schedule.”
