The Chiefs saw a 14-point lead slip away in the final six minutes of regulation, but they pulled out a 28-21 victory in overtime over visiting Sidney in a non-league football battle.

Bellefontaine (1-1) scored on the first possession of overtime on a 1-yard touchdown run by Jordan Baughman.
A holding penalty backed up the Yellow Jackets (1-1) on their overtime possession, and Daniel Boy concluded his huge night with an interception on a third-down play to seal the Bellefontaine win.
“We have to use this as a positive,” said BHS head coach Toby Smith, who picked up his first win as a Chieftain. “At the end of the day a win was achieved, but we have so many things to fix.”
It was not a crisp effort by either team. Sidney turned the ball over seven times and Bellefontaine committed nine penalties for 82 yards. The Chiefs were whistled for four unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
“That is absolutely unacceptable,” said Smith. “That is on me. I take responsibility for that. I have to make sure that does not happen again. I will not allow our team to play another game with that same type of undisciplined attitude.”
Bellefontaine trailed at halftime 7-6 despite Sidney turning the ball over four times in the first half.
“We just made too many mistakes tonight on both sides of the ball,” said Sidney head coach Adam Doenges. “It was a collective effort by all of us, players and coaches included. We have to correct our mistakes.”
