Indian Lake sophomore Connor Davis tied the school record for most goals in a game during the Lakers’ 9-3 win over host Triad Monday in a non-league contest.
The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the season and the Cardinals start off 0-1.
Davis scored six goals, which ties the record set by Jordan McKinley during the 1999 season.
“It was nice to see Connor tie the old record for goals in a game,” said Indian Lake head coach Jon Shoffstall. “This is a true testament to the unselfish play of our team as well as Connor’s ability to finish.”
In addition to Davis, the offense saw Dustin Roby score two goals with three assists, Brandon Gillen have one goal and one assist and Luke Rode add one goal.
“It was nice to see the guys continue to be consistent with their play,” said Shoffstall. “I was impressed with our ability to finish around the net and also our unselfish play. We had 16 shots on goal and nine of those went in. However, we still need to continue to improve our passing and tighten up our defense.”
Scoring for Triad were Josh Orecchio, Jake Arthur and Brent Benedum.
Defensively, Elijah Knief had two saves at goal and Tyler Rode had one save.
Triad’s Sam Carson recorded five saves at goal.
There was no junior varsity game.
Indian Lake travels to Lima Bath on Saturday in non-league action.
