Daniel Hickman and Corey Britton both bring an advanced basketball background to the table. It was their reputation for doing things the right way, though, that specifically stood out to Riverside’s administration.

Hickman and Britton were hired as the school’s new head boys and girls basketball coaches Monday during a special Riverside Board of Education meeting.

“We were looking for high character,” said Riverside Superintendent Scott Mann during Monday’s meeting. “We did a lot of research and there was no dirt on these two. We received a lot of positive recommendations. We are really happy to have them both.”

Hickman, a 2009 Miami East High School graduate and a 2013 Cedarville University graduate, will lead the boys team after Don Epps stepped down following a two-year stint as head coach.

A standout on the court at Miami East, Hickman was the state’s Division III co-player of the year as a senior. He helped lead his team to the regional final that season.
