With two individual school records and two relay records already under her belt, Freyhof is now chasing a berth in the state meet. She will compete in four events at the Division III regional meet this week in Piqua.
“Morgan has by far exceeded any expectations I had for her this season,” said WL-Salem girls head coach Ann Vogel. “For a freshman, she really has the sense of how to compete. Some freshmen can have the ability to compete, but don’t have the mentality of how to compete and just run.”
It wasn’t a complete surprise that Freyhof has found immediate success. She placed second in the 200-meter dash at the junior high state meet last season and was third in the 100-meter dash.
However, it is the speed in which Freyhof has excelled in just her first prep season with the Tigers that has opened eyes.
