Bellefontaine’s hot bats too much for Indian Lake

Bellefontaine’s softball team struck early against visiting Indian Lake on Thursday and grabbed an 11-5 win in Central Buckeye Conference action.

The Chieftains improve their record to 14-11 overall and 9-7 in the CBC Kenton Trail division. The Lakers fall to 9-14 and 4-12 in the CBC Mad River division.

Bellefontaine didn’t waste time scoring on Thursday. The Chiefs led 8-0 after two innings.

Indian Lake scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning, but still trailed 8-4.

The Chiefs added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth frame to extend their lead to 11-4. The Lakers tacked on one more run in the top of the sixth inning, but could not get any closer.

Offensively for the Chiefs, MacKenzie Brunswick hit a home run, Cat Faulder went 4-4, Jazmyn Haley went 3-4 with two doubles, Haleigh Stafford went 2-4 with a triple, Jenna VanHoose went 2-4 and Georgia Cooper added a triple.
Sidney Dew recorded the win in the pitching circle.

Claire Maier had a double and three RBI to spark the Lakers on offense, while Shelby McMann and Kylie Speicher each had an RBI.

Indian Lake travels to Versailles today, while Bellefontaine does not return to action until its sectional tournament game Thursday, May 16.
