Tigers’ Crawford shuts down Jets

Kyle Crawford threw a four-hitter as host West Liberty-Salem thumped Northeastern 10-0 in six innings Wednesday in an Ohio Heritage Conference baseball game.

The Tigers are now 19-5 on the season.

Crawford struck out three and walked one. He also helped himself at the plate, going 4-4 with a double and an RBI.

WL-Salem took control with a four-run second inning. The Tigers increased their lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning and they added three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Providing offensive support for the Tigers were Jake Rutan with a double, triple and three RBI, Matt Ulmer with a pair of doubles and two RBI and Spencer Whitcraft with two RBI.

Cardinals get revenge over SCC

Triad’s baseball team atoned for its earlier loss to Springfield Catholic Central with an 11-1 six-inning win over the Irish in the rematch Wednesday.

SCC defeated the Cardinals in their first matchup this season and it proved to be Triad’s only Ohio Heritage Conference loss this spring.

Triad finishes league play at 13-1. The Cardinals are now 22-4 overall.

In Wednesday’s game, Triad pounded out 13 hits.

Ryan Davis went 4-4 with three doubles to power the Triad offense. Marshall O’Brien went 2-2 with three RBI, Auston Sanford, Seth Collier and Tre McIntyre each had a triple, Doug Lowe was 2-4 with a triple and Jacob Watkins had two RBI.

Lowe and Collier combined on a two-hitter. Lowe struck out eight in five innings of work.

Warriors derail Raiders

Visiting Northwestern defeated Benjamin Logan 4-2 in a Central Buckeye Conference makeup game Wednesday.
