Chiefs fall to Tippecanoe

Tippecanoe’s softball team held on to top visiting Bellefontaine 9-4 Monday in a Central Buckeye Conference meeting.

The Red Devils are now 14-4 overall and sit atop the CBC Kenton Trail division at 8-0. The Chieftains slide to 6-7, 3-4.

“We did not play a bad game, we just could not get that timely hit to get some runs early in the game,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin. “It was the top of the seventh until we really started to get going.”

Tippecanoe led 6-1 after the fifth inning. The Red Devils tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-1 advantage.

Bellefontaine made a late comeback with three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but it was not enough.

For the Chiefs, MacKenzie Brunswick went 2-3 with a triple, Haleigh Stafford went 2-3 and Jenna Van Hoose added a double.

Bellefontaine hosts Tippecanoe today in another CBC matchup.
