“It was not a pretty game for us, but it is one we will learn from and use to get stronger,” said BHS head coach Katie Buffkin.
Shawnee jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one inning and extended its lead to 8-3 in the second. The Braves added three more runs in the fourth for an 11-1 lead.
The Chiefs scored their second run in the fourth inning before the Braves put the game away with a four-run fifth frame.
Bellefontaine was limited to two hits on the day.
Shawnee collected 11 hits off three Chieftain pitchers and also benefited from three Bellefontaine errors.
The Chiefs return to action Thursday at home against Urbana.
